Hot cross bun season is finally here. This year Days Bakery are baking to the next level to make these tasty buns even tastier. Simnel Cake slab

Simnel Cake is a rich fruit cake with a layer of Marzipan through the middle and on top.

Once again its that time of year were we are baking these delicious Hot Cross Buns. Hot Cross buns go way back even before Days Bakery. They are thought to be as old as the medical times and were traditionally made in around the time of good Friday Years later we still love Carefully making, baking and eating these lovely buns.

Simnel Cake

Simnel Cake is a rich fruit cake traditionally eaten at Easter. They have been known since Medieval Times. The legend says that Simon and Nelly fell out over how to make the cake hence the name.
It has a layer of Marzipan through the middle and on top. On a full Simnel cake 11 Marzipan balls are used to decorate the cake symbolising 12 Apostles minus Judas Iscariot. For the slab and slice Days bakers have flamed the top
